HAS YOUR RETIREMENT $$$ BEEN SLICED AND DICED?
CONSIDER THESE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME 401(K) COIN....
SIDE 1:
1. Are you frustrated or angry or both?
2. Not sure what to do (Financial Paralysis)?
3. Lost faith in the financial markets?
4. Should you leave your $$ in the market and watch it go down or pull out now and try to rebuilt in a different way that creates less stress?
5. Stop putting $$ in the market all together?
SIDE 2:
1. Angry or frustrated or both?
2. And...recognize the incredible opportunity presented?
3. Do you have a trusted financial adviser?
4. Continue to fund 401(k) and put more $$ into the market?
WHICH WAY TO GO....SIDE ONE OR SIDE TWO?
1. Consider your time line....if you have 10 years or more B4 you need the $$ = SIDE 2
2. Do you have the stomach lining to endure the wild ride for 3-5 years? If yes, put on your selt belt & go with SIDE 2
3. Can you even afford to invest in the market in the first place?
a. Do you pay off your credit card debt monthly?
b. Do you have an emergency fund with 6-12 months of living expenses (liquid & accessible)?
c. Are you living below your means?
IF NO TO A, B & C, GO WITH SIDE 1..............and.....
1. Speak with a financial adviser (do not find one in the yellow pages or on line)...get a recommendation by someone you trust.
2. Adjust your time line
3. Create a new starting point based on reality
4. Use your energy to create a solution rather than staying in the fear or anger (fear, anger & anxiety are optional!) - in other words, create a new plan that works.....
5. Create a gratitude list - you can't be in gratitude and fear at the same time!
6. Remember, this too will pass!!
DON'T LEAVE YOURSELF NAKED TO THE CURRENT MARKET !!
